Alan Gale Swain, 78, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, in Hollister, California. Born on January 30, 1947, in Plainview, Texas, Alan lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, and community.
Alan’s early years took him from the plains of Texas to the heart of California’s Silicon Valley. He graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory before pursuing higher education at Santa Clara University. His thirst for knowledge and commitment to personal growth led him to earn a master’s degree from San Jose State University.
A man of deep faith and service, Alan was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For many years, he faithfully served as the ward financial clerk—a role he approached with diligence and integrity. His presence in the congregation was marked not only by his service but also by his warmth and unwavering friendliness.
Alan shared a rich life with his beloved wife Judy, with whom he traveled extensively—including memorable trips to Russia that reflected their shared spirit of adventure. Their bond was one of love and partnership until her passing. Alan was also preceded in death by his son-in-law Chris who he shared a special bond with.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: daughters Abigail (George) and Faith (Chris), and son Seth. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Rebeca, Evan, Chas, James, Violet, and Nightlynn. Alan also leaves behind his siblings Don, Twanet, and Lorna.
Alan had a zest for life that shone through in everything he did. He found joy in simple pleasures—playing dominos with friends or indulging in his favorite snacks like Oreos and Dr Pepper. He had a lifelong fascination with trains and mustangs, passions that brought him delight throughout the years.
Music played a special role in Alan’s life. As a member of the Santa Clara Chorale, he lent his voice to performances that uplifted audiences and brought him great personal fulfillment. Alan brought happiness wherever he went.
A memorial service honoring Alan’s life will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1670 Cienega Rd., Hollister, California 95023
Alan Gale Swain will be remembered for his bold spirit, loving heart, and joyful presence. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
