Betty is survived by her husband of 56 years, David Wilson; her children Debbie Marcotte and JIm Wilson and daughter in law Eileen Wilson; her 5 grandsons Blake and Logan Marcotte and Benjamin, Thomas and Matthew Wilson. She is predeceased by her parents Marian and Anthony (Al) Masar and her brother Richard Masar.
Betty was born on March 18, 1942 in Oakland, CA. She attended St. Cyril’s Elementary School and Bishop O’Dowd High School. After high school she worked as a secretary before she met and married David Wilson on June 20, 1964. A few years later, Betty and Dave welcomed their son Jim and then their daughter Debbie. As a mom Betty spent many hours volunteering and helping out where needed. When she returned to work she worked as a technical recruiter before retiring.
In retirement, Betty enjoyed spending time with family and her many friends. She also loved cooking, decorating, shopping, playing Bunco and gardening. Betty was a risk taker and enjoyed playing the slots even though she often lost more than she won. Betty and David enjoyed traveling and took many cruises seeing most of the world. Betty was proud to be a Bishop O’Dowd alumni, and was a part of the reunion committee until recently. A member of Chinquapin Branch of the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland, she enjoyed planning and attending events to raise money for the hospital. Betty loved to tell stories and always said, “To make a long story short…” but she never did make them short. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
We want to thank family and friends for their support during this time. We are also forever grateful for all of the “angels” that took care of our beautiful mom/wife. This includes Hospice, the staff from Affordable Home Care Agency, and Amy. It was so reassuring that mom was taken care of with so much love and dignity.
Due to COVID a memorial service will not be planned until it is safe to gather.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Betty’s name to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland, Bishop O’Dowd High School or a charity of choice.
