AKA ‘Don Geno’

Gene Herman Ellinger was born in San Francisco. He was a 1953 graduate of Polytechnic High School, where he lettered in football, track and field. After high school he served 8 years in the U.S. Army.
After his military service, he was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad as a Paralegal. After leaving the railroad, Gene spent the next 10 years working various jobs. He met his wife, Sandra Moore, in 1988 and the two were married in 1990. In 1995, he joined the Loyal Order of Moose. In 1996, he became a Legionnaire and proceeded to hold various offices within the Moose, up to and including Governor. Gene then received his fellowship in 2001. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 99.
Gene and Sandy traveled, golfed and enjoyed life wherever it would take them for 33 years. He resided in Campbell, CA where both he and Sandy enjoyed cheering on his San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Ellinger and brother, Frank Ellinger. Gene is survived by his wife Sandy, his son Gary, his daughter Kirsten, sister-in-law Barbara and nephew Chris (Karen). Gene is also survived by stepdaughter Patricia, grandsons Richard and Adam, great grandsons Christopher and Haiden, brother-in law Robert, and sister-in-law Patricia.
A celebration of life will be held on February 25, 2023 at 1pm, at the Sunnyvale Moose Lodge located at 905 Kifer Rd, Sunnyvale, CA 94086. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society https://donate3.cancer.org
