Janet Abreu Aaro

A true native Californian, Janet (Jan) was born in Oakland and grew up in San Leandro and Castro Valley. The daughter of the late Arthur Edward and Jean Ferguson. Nicknamed “Fergie” in school, Jan attended Hayward High where she developed a passion for drama. She graduated in 1956 and enrolled in classes at San Jose State University. She married her high school sweetheart Robert L. (Bob) Abreu in 1958. Together they raised their two daughters, Kathy and Rhonda in Pleasanton where they moved in 1970 from San Lorenzo. Janet worked for many years for Blue Cross insurance in data processing and Lincoln National insurance before retiring in the 1989. Jan and Bob were married 34 year before he preceded her in death in 1992. During her retirement, Janet enjoyed traveling and visited many places around the world and many places across the US. In 2002 she met Norman (Norm) Aaro. They were married in April 2006 and made their home here in Brentwood. They continued their travels together Jan enjoyed decorating her home for all the different holidays. She loved flower arranging, country music, reading Danielle Steel books, watching movies, and meeting new friend through her computer. She is survived by her husband Norm Aaro of Brentwood, her brother, John (and Dawn) Ferguson of Dallas, TX, her two daughters Kathrine (and Randall) Ruzich of Brentwood, Rhonda (and Eric) Sorensen of Fremont, After a brief illness, she passed peacefully with her family and loved ones by her side. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brentwood Funeral Home, 839 1st St, Brentwood, CA 94513
