Jo Anne was born on August 29, 1946 in San Francisco. She was preceded in death by her dear parents Edward George Conlan and Edna Calhoun Conlan and her brother James Conlan and daughter Deborah Kathleen Larkin.
Jo Anne’s formative years were spent in San Francisco. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964 and attended San Francisco City College and San Francisco State University where she met her future husband, Arthur Wood.
Jo Anne served her community as a past PTA President of Roosevelt Elementary School in San Leandro, member of the Woman’s League of Voters and an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of San Leandro.
She was an avid reader and devoted to her family. One of her favorite sayings was “Give them roots and give them wings.” She took pride in her children: Debbie Larkin (RIP), Laura Wolfe and Michael Wood.
Her special pride was the love she shared with 7 grandchildren: Ryan Larkin, Jessie Hare, Ryley Wolfe, Jace Wolfe, Clark Wood, Charlotte Wolfe and Whitney Wood. She also loved her daughter in law, Georgia Wood and son in law Tom Wolfe. She is survived by her brother John Conlan, nephew Eddie Conlan, niece Eileen Turner and Grandniece Rebecca Valasco.
Her marriage of 56 years with Art Wood was filled with love and joy, many trips to Palm Springs and frequent cruises. She enjoyed gazing at the ocean and the warmth of Palm Springs and Hawaii. Mexican Restaurants and Trader Vics were her favorite spots for celebrations.
Jo Anne will stay in the hearts of her family and many friends forever.
