Linda Blaha was a unique, ambitious, collector who traveled the world, loved music and lived for rock and roll. In her earlier years, as a hairstylist in the posh community of Bloomfield Hills, her fiery red hair and ferocious smile would fill the salon with excitement and fury. She was a scandalous trendsetter, a fashion guru, and comic wrapped up all in one. We swear she missed her calling as a comedian, when she moved to Las Vegas, to be in the midst of all the razz ma tazz that only Nevada could offer.
But, after several trips to California, she followed her heart to San Francisco, where she fell in love with the rich golden sunsets overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, and the enchanting drive through Muir Woods with her husband, Bill Blaha who adored and cherished her humor.
Her friends will miss her, especially her life long, and dearest of friends, Rita Mattocks, who was like a sister to her. They would talk for hours at a time on the phone, until the plastic melted in their ears or until the battery died. Rita and Linda, were both hairdressers and rocked the night clubs in Detroit in the 60’s and 70’s laughing and giggling , and getting into mischief, at the Gay Haven. She was even chosen as a Playboy bunny, working as a hostess at the famous Playboy Club in Detroit. She loved riding the steamboats, Steamer St Claire and the Steamer Columbia on the Detroit River to Bob lo Island Amusement Park. She especially enjoyed watching the glitter of the lights in the evening and the loved the sound of the roller coaster with shrieking shrills from the distance, of people enjoying the ride.
Her favorite past time was eating “Peanut Butter”. Nothing was better than eating “Peanut Butter”, right out of the jar with a spoon. Life was good, as long as there was “Peanut Butter”, according to Linda. Rita’s, daughter Dawn, helped Linda move to the West Coast. They drove down "Route 66” listening to Foreigner and blasting, Van Halen cassettes all the way, to San Diego, where they stashed some weed in a bush along with the bong, and hopped a bust to Tijuana for some tacos. They made it out alive and the weed was still in the bushes in San Diego, California when they got back. She sent Dawn home to Detroit on an airplane, and then California, became Linda’s forever new home”. Linda will be forever missed, but no one could forget her boisterous personality, her beautiful wide eyed, sparkling , baby blue eyes, her delicate turned up nose and her silly grin. She was as special, as they come.
Soar now, like an eagle or better yet, like a Flamingo in flight and “do not” poop on Caesar’s Palace!
Also, do not bother Elvis Presley! Jimmy Buffet is way more fun, and he loves cheeseburgers.
Linda Blaha ( Scheibner), was born in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Florence Isabel Scheibner and was raised by her late step father Charles Scheibner. She is survived by her beloved husband, William Blaha. A Special Thank you, to Dave Barclay for helping to assist Linda, and being a wonderful friend, when she needed you most. Too bad, Susie didn’t get to know you better.
~Rest in Peace, Linda~….
