Oakland, CA- Mavis (Hanson) Edwards went to be with her Lord on October 11, 2016. She rejoins Bob, her husband, of 58 years who preceded her. Born in Mabel, Minnesota to Odys and Milo Hanson on July 29, 1926, Mavis moved to Alameda with her family in 1942. She graduated from Alameda High School and joined the Cadet Nurse Corps, obtaining her nursing degree from Highland Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She was a nurse at Alameda Hospital until her marriage to Bob Edwards. She married the love of her life, Bob Edwards, in 1950. Mavis and Bob lived in Montclair, raising two sons and a daughter while serving in their church and community. They later lived in Carmel for 20 years serving as well. Mavis loved to sail in the Bay and travel with Bob especially to their homes in Tahoe and Hawaii. Mavis is survived by her children Dave, Dan, and Mary and their spouses and families, including 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and her sister, Janice (Hanson) Kraabel and family.
