Dr. Oscar P. Ansaldo, MD, a beloved physician, devoted husband, and proud father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, in San Jose, CA, at the age of 87. Born on January 15, 1937, in Davao City, Philippines, Dr. Ansaldo was one of twelve children. He is survived by his siblings Leticia, Aida, Belen, and Jamie.
Dr. Ansaldo’s journey to medicine began in the Philippines, where he graduated from Far Eastern University in 1963. Driven by a deep commitment to care for others, he immigrated to the United States in 1964, where he embarked on a distinguished medical career that spanned decades. Specializing in geriatrics and pathology, he began his work at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King, Wisconsin, where he eventually rose to the position of medical director.
In 1983, Dr. Ansaldo relocated to Los Banos, CA, where he opened a private practice, serving the community with dedication and compassion until his retirement in 2002. His impact on the lives of countless patients and their families will be remembered for years to come.
In addition to his medical career, Dr. Ansaldo served his country with honor in the United States Army Reserve. Over his 25 years of service, he became an active-duty member during Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield, retiring with the rank of Colonel. Even after retirement, his dedication to service continued as he conducted physicals for reservists for several more years.
In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, tennis, bowling, and cross-country skiing. He was also an avid 49er and Golden States Warrior fan. These activities brought him joy and balance, enriching his life and providing cherished memories with family and friends.
Dr. Ansaldo is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lilia; their three daughters Maria with her husband David, Jean and Lisa and six cherished grandchildren, Connor, Lindsey, Dylan, Jayden, Brenden, and Aaliyah.
Dr. Oscar P. Ansaldo will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable life. His memory will be forever cherished. His legacy of love, service, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi, 5111 San Felipe Rd, San Jose at 10:30 AM.
