Ronald of San Jose, Ca. formally of Titusville, Pa. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on November 3, 2016 in Redwood City, Ca., after complications from a stroke. Ron was a longtime employee of GTE (Sylvania)/Verizon, and retired in 1994, after 38 years of loyal service. Ron was a veteran after serving in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. Ron was known by his friends and family as a true “gentleman” and lived his life with utmost honesty, integrity, work ethic, loyalty and devotion to his family and friends. While his children were growing up, you would find Ron organizing and officiating swim meets, traveling in a trailer with kids, friends and pets to national parks, museums, monuments, and all other adventures available in the western United States, and working to restore his 1940 classic Chevy. After retirement, Ron and his wife Betty spent several years traveling the world with dear friends from West Valley Presbyterian Church (WVPC) and traveling the US continent in their motorhome. They visited most countries, continents, and traveled all the 50 states in America! Ron was very active in his community and church as a member or supporter of the SIRS, Roosters (Square Dancing), Adopt a Chaplain, Deacon and Elder at WVPC, and joining his northern continent friends in Yuma, Arizona as a migrant “snow-bird”. Ron had a thirst for history and you would often find him relaxing in his chair reading a 1,000+ page book on the Civil War or other global topics or watching global news to keep abreast of the current events. When you talked to Ron, it was immediately evident that he was keenly interested in you as a person and there was no topic, career or issue that Ron was not ready to engage in a deep and heartfelt conversation. His friends and family always served as his equilibrium and joy to include his friends from WVPC, SIRS, Yuma, and his family in California, Colorado, Ohio, Louisiana and Pennsylvania. Ron was a devoted husband to his wife Mary “Betty” for 57 years and a loving father to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ron is survived by his wife, Mary Pangborn of 57 years, his son Craig Pangborn (Nickie), his daughter Kimberly Dremalas (Daniel), his grandchildren Brittney Perez (Andrew), Courtney Pangborn, Matthew Dremalas, Becca Pangborn, Jacob Dremalas, and great grandchildren Athea Perez and Roman Perez. Ron was also survived by his sister Sandy (Tom) brothers-in-law Lewis (Brenda) and Phillip (Peg), sister-in-law Beverly, and many nieces and nephews. Ron’s family is hosting a “celebration of life” November 29, 2016 at 11 am at the West Valley Presbyterian Church, 6191 Bollinger Road, Cupertino CA 95014. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ron’s name to the National Stroke Association www.stroke.org or American Heart Association www.donatenow.heart.org.
