David was recognized as the youngest Boy Scout in the United States in 1949, when his 11th birthday happened to be on the same day as the lowering of the eligibility age from 12 to 11 years old.
U.S. Naval service: His first travel abroad was to fly to Naples, Italy to become crew on USS Aucilla from 1956 until 1958. His ship was home-ported in Barcelona, Spain for his 2 years of military duty. His ship was part of a support group serving the U.S. 6th Fleet, based in The Mediterranean.
David retired in 2002 from a career in intimate apparel and women’s accessories sales and sales management. He spent 20 years, rising from sales representative to VP sales for Bali Bras and served several years as a regional sales VP for Swarovski Jewelry.
David’s hobby of skiing was enjoyed for many years, while woodworking became a lifelong avocation. He spent many hours building nest-boxes for Bluebirds and Owls for nearby community and regional parks. David also loved photography, with a particular focus on nature.
He was a self-acknowledged foodie, and thoroughly enjoyed cooking and entertaining with his wife Donna. He and Donna also spent much time traveling the world and throughout the U.S. visiting many National Parks and Civil War sites.
The enjoyment of owning a Harley, took him and a friend on an 11,000-mile road trip from home in California, via the northern tier to the Canadian Maritimes and down the East Coast, to return home via the south.
David lived most of his life in California, while his job required some years in New York and Chicago. David has been active in his community for many years, serving in several different capacities and assisting with senior care.
David was survived by his loving wife Donna, who passed ten days after him, on April 19, 2025.
