Deborah was born to Alfred and Glenna Marion on April 14, 1951, in Redwood City, California. She had fond memories of growing up surrounded by the beauty of the Northern California Coast and vacationing at Lake Tahoe with her family. Deborah always longed to be where the forest and the ocean were easily within reach.
Deborah attended Pitzer College in Claremont and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Sociology. She went on to pursue a career as an electrical and architectural draftsman, honing her skills working summers at her father’s engineering firm in San Francisco. She later studied architectural and interior design at Fullerton College and was recognized for her pen and ink drawings preserving the architecture of Placentia’s historical homes for future generations. Deborah was also a skilled seamstress and spent the latter half of her career working as a sales associate for Big Y Yardage in Orange. She also ran her own small sewing business, making everything from pillows and draperies to teddy bears.
Deborah proudly raised her two sons Blake and Allen in Placentia with her first husband, where she was an active community member, supporting the school PTA earthquake and disaster preparedness committees and serving many roles on the West Placentia Little League. Deborah will be remembered as an incredible host who happily shared her organizational skills to plan many family events, including the weddings of her sisters Jan and Suzette. In her spare time, Deborah enjoyed reading and gardening. After a hard day’s work, she could often be found relaxing in her garden with her nose buried in a book.
Her family grew when she met the love of her life Dan at the age of 50 and they blended their lives together. Many family gatherings and warm conversations were held around their kitchen table. Together, Dan and Deb share five grandchildren and many friends.
Deborah was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who gave to others with her full heart. A celebration of life is scheduled for 11 AM on Sunday, August 13 in Lake Forest. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Deborah’s honor. For more information, please email Elizabeth Fairchild, [email protected].
