Eugene Morley McMaster joined his beloved wife, Marilyn, in Heaven on November 30, 2024 at the age of 94. Gene was the only child of Frank and Irene (Chadwell) McMaster, born November 14, 1930. He grew up in Watsonville, CA where he attended and played football for Watsonville High. Gene’s lifelong enthusiasm for football was only surpassed by his love for God, his Catholic faith, his family and his country. Gene was proud of his service in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, and thankful for the values and disciplines it instilled.
After his time in the military, he met his soon to be wife who inspired him to study and convert to the Catholic faith. On August 3, 1957 Gene married Marilyn Perkov at St. Joseph’s Church in Cupertino, CA. They were married for 66 years at the time of her passing in 2023. Gene is survived by Marilyn’s sister Catherine Renteria, their seven children: Teresa, Dennis, Kathleen, Christine, Jon, Mike, and Marie (An eighth child, Mary Josephine, died shortly after her birth in 1964.), 20 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Los Alamitos on Mon., January 6, 2024. Rosary is at 11:30am, Mass at noon. Reception will follow at the Los Alamitos Naval Base Golf Course in Cypress.
