After having suffered a fall and head injury, she slowly deteriorated, but remained strong in her faith. By her chair was a handwritten note: "I will both lie down in peace and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8 NKJ"
Eunice Ann Omundson was born April 7, 1927 on the family farm in Silverton Township, rural Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Peder and Jennie (Westby) Omundson. The family later moved to a farm near St. Hilaire where Eunice and her siblings attended school. When she was 10 years old the family moved to Thief River Falls. Eunice graduated from Lincoln High School class of 1945.
Her senior year in high school she started working for the Woolworth's store and continued working there as a cashier and bookkeeper until 1955. Being the independent adventurer she was, she made a big move on New Years Eve, when she boarded a plane for Los Angeles, California, where she had enrolled at the California Lutheran Bible School. She eventually stayed on and worked in the Bible School Bookstore for 4 1/2 years. In 1961 Eunice began her job with a CPA firm in Los Angeles; Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co. She worked for them 26 years until she retired.
In 1977 she had moved to Anaheim, California, where she continued to live after retirement. She loved Southern California. She had fun visiting local sights with friends and family. Telephone visits kept her in close touch with family and friends. She even mastered using a cell phone and had fun texting and sharing photos. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and playing Scrabble. She was always young at heart.
Eunice loved her family and went home nearly every year to visit, until it became too difficult to travel alone. She always appreciated when family and friends would visit her in California. Over the years she enjoyed traveling and was able to travel to Hawaii, Mexico, Hong Kong, China, Norway, and Sweden.
She is survived by her sister Edna Thorstad (98), Dunsmuir, California and many nieces, nephews, and cousins and their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Gilmen Omundson, sisters Stella Krankkala Omdahl, Deloris Hovland, and three sisters in infancy.
