On January 31, 2024, Gerald R. Burns age 84 of La Mirada, Ca. passed away at home surrounded by family early morning at 12:34 a.m. Born May 25,1939 in Omaha, Nebraska he grew up on a farm, where he was raised by his Grandparents Emma and Ted. He really did walk to school up hill in the snow if he wasn’t riding his horse to school. He joined the United States Marine Corp at age 19 and then began his journey to the West Coast where he met Mary L. Carmona. They were married for over 64 years. He is survived by his wife Mary, son Bret and his wife Jeanne, grandson Christopher and his wife Kristy, great granddaughter McKenzie and great grandson Colin. Daughter Brenda and her husband Terry Siefert, granddaughter Felicia, grandsons Evan and Chance and great granddaughter Izabella, great grandson Jonathan. He was a machinist and General Manager at ZSP for over 45 years. Gary served for 10 years in the Norwalk Sheriff Department as a mounted posse Deputy. He was a great horseman, hunter, fisherman, gardener, and he coached baseball with a couple of first place teams. He was a golfer and he never missed the 19th hole. Yearly he faithfully attended the Miller poker party. He was one to not miss a good poker game, as well as teaching his granddaughter Felicia how to play poker and liars poker by age 5. He was a strong patriot and loved his country. He was dedicated and loyal to his family, was strong willed and stubborn at times. He was full of knowledge gained through all his life experiences. When his time came, you could see his pride shine. He left with dignity and strength and full of love for his family. He will be missed dearly. A celebration of life will occur when details are determined.
