Joan was born in Greensburg Pennsylvania. on May 7th 1938, the firstborn child of Elmer & Frances Burrell & was called to her makers side peacefully in her sleep on the morning of April 19th 2023. In Westminster California.
Joan was preceded there by her husband of 5 years James (Chief) Henry & her husband of 30 years Robert (Bob) L. Weitzel. Her eldest son James (Jimmy) sadly also preceded her to their promised land.
Joan is survived by her daughter Cheryl of Orange County, California & her son David of Phoenix, Arizona. In addition, Joan leaves behind 6 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren spread over 3 western states.
Joan, (having moved to Long Beach, California in the early 50’s) was a longtime residence of a younger Orange County & graduated from Long Beach’s, Jordan High school in 1956.
Joan's 1st job was as a rolling skating car hop. Joan worked for the Savana school district while she attended Northrop University & after graduating became one of the first female electrical mechanics for Trans World Airlines & after a merger, worked many more years for American Airlines from which she retired in 2000.
Joan was a wonderful dancer & also enjoyed dancing on roller skates. With her loving husband Bob at her side, they enjoyed their favorite activity, traveling the world over by ship and plane. They hosted many parties & were especially famous for their heavily attended crazy, 4th of July shindigs.
Joan served for many years as an assistant scout leader for girl scout troop # 1427 & was a life guard @ a city pool in Long Beach during & after of high school.
Joan influenced and was loved by many & will be dearly missed. Rest In Peace Joanie!
