Leslie was born in Hartford, Connecticut at St. Francis Hospital to Thelma, a homemaker, and Joseph DeBella, who had been a prisoner of war during WWII. He was the second born followed by his siblings Robert, Janice, Barbara, Russell, Mark, Ralph, Theron and Joey. He was preceded in death by his brother Johnny.
Leslie was a General Contractor by trade and was known for his great work and professionalism.
Leslie was a true gentleman and was loved by all who knew him. To know him was to love him. He was the life of the party. He made everyone around him feel special. He was funny, compassionate and caring.
Leslie loved to bowl and golf. He got a hole in one while golfing, but nothing made him happier than when he got his 300 game at bowling. He achieved that three times.
He and his cousin, Rick Pinto of Connecticut, would discuss their games constantly. He was also close to his Aunt Fran who lives in Florida.
Leslie was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his sister-in-law, Gale Edlund, and brother-in-law Mike Stein. He was very proud of his niece Jennifer Vargas. Bevi St. George recently made him a great uncle even though he has always been a 'great uncle'.
Leslie has been with his wife, Ruth, for over 30 years. They started out as friends and as Ruth has said, she didn't want to risk their friendship by dating because best friends are hard to find. Fortunately, Leslie convinced her that she should risk it only with the promise that if it didn't work out that they would always be friends. Happily, it all worked out.
