August 13, 1932 - September 8, 2023
Linnea (Nea) was born in Los Angeles, CA to Hildur and Eldred Reames on August 13, 1932.
She grew up in Los Angeles and began her teaching career with LAUSD after graduating from UCLA. During her career she taught, counseled and enriched the lives of many students.
Linnea met her husband, Phil Weimer, while working for LAUSD and they were married for 25 years until Phil’s passing in 2014. Together they enjoyed traveling to places like Alaska and Hawaii. Linnea and her mother also took a trip to Sweden to visit relatives there.
Linnea and her husband were strong supporters of the UCLA Bruins and she was a big fan of the Los Angeles Angels.
Linnea was active in the Lutheran church all of her life and was a member of the prayer team at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irvine, CA for many years.
Linnea’s friends and admirers number almost as many as her good deeds. To Nea, no one was a stranger. She was selfless and kind, always cheerful and friendly to anyone that she crossed paths with.
Nea was like the glue in our family, keeping everyone connected. She always stayed in touch, inquiring “where are you and how are you?” She was genuinely interested in the lives of others, eager to help and to pray for anyone when needed.
Linnea was very fortunate to have had many dedicated and loving caregivers and helpers. The family would like to express their gratitude to them all.
Linnea was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, step mother and grandmother. She is recently preceded in death by her brother, Pat (Patricia Happel) Reames. She is survived by her nieces; Cindy (Mike) Nausha, Susie Newton, Cathy (Jim) Hicks Reames, her step daughter, Allison (Mark) Nero, her step son, Kurt (Joy) Weimer, her grandchildren; Andrew, Christopher and McKenna Nero, Ashley and Charlie Weimer, her great nieces and nephews; Christen (Andy) Miller, Marissa (Kyle) Vander Borght, Adam Jory, Michael Newton, Megan Bennett and her great-great nieces and nephews; Devin and Drew Mitchell and Michael and Jack Vander Borght.
When God created our Nea He certainly broke the mold. There will never be another like our Nea. She is loved and will be missed more than words can say.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Linnea Reames-Weimer can be made to:
