Michael “Howard” Folmar passed away on Wednesday January 8th, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Howard was born on March 21st, 1943 in Havana, Florida. He grew up in upstate New York and graduated from Central Square High School in 1960. He went on to study math and history at Michigan State University.
Upon graduation, Howard went to work for Youth for Christ as a minister for 3 years. In the fall of 1968, he met Peggy Cole at a church youth retreat where he was a speaker and she was a counselor. They started dating early the next year and married April 19th, 1969. Howard and Peggy moved to California later in the year where Howard attended Fuller Seminary while selling insurance to make ends meet. In due course, they welcomed their three children, Micki, Michael and James, into the world while Howard continued to sell insurance after graduating from Fuller. Howard retired from the business world in 2014 and served for several years at the end of his career as a pastor with Saddleback Church Laguna Woods.
Howard was predeceased by his parents Clyde and Derlia. He is survived by wife Peggy, brother Ed and sister Sylvia, children Micki, Michael and James, daughter-in-laws Kara and Marissa, grandchildren Mary, Kyle, Sydney, John and Lucy, grandogs Jo Jo and Poppy.
