Michael D. Marr, most recently of Laguna Woods, CA passed away peacefully on April 26 after a period of declining health. Born on April 12, 1944, he was the third child of the ten children born to Margaret and J. Harry Marr. Michael grew up in Hingham, MA where he attended elementary and middle school, participated in scouts, community events and many club sports. He was a 1962 graduate of Hingham High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the U. S. Army and served in the Dominican Republic.
On his return to MA, he entered Boston State College where he earned a BS. He eventually married and moved to Niantic, CT where he raised his two daughters, Cristin (Peter) Carey and Michelle (Quentin Goldblatt). They have fond memories of times with their dad when they would often join him driving along, tape blaring, singing, and belting out their favorite Chuck Berry, Beatles, and Elvis songs. He worked for twenty years in quality control of submarine manufacture at Electric Boat in Groton, CT
He will always be loved and greatly missed by his beloved daughters to whom he showed enduring love and support. He is also survived by his sisters, Maureen Carven (Joseph), Constance and Irene, and brothers Matthew (Sally), Jay, Mark, and eight nieces and seven nephews and their families. He is predeceased by his parents, and brothers Warren (Bivian), Peter and Paul.
Michael was a man of faith and independent spirit. His wry sense of humor, and kind and loyal persona will always be remembered and treasured by his family and by all who knew him. His love of God, family, country, friends, and all Boston sports teams knew no bounds.
He will be interred at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
