Walter ‘Arden’ Sipola of San Clemente, CA passed away on June 30, 2025 at the age of 79. He was born on October 29, 1945 in St. Louis, MO and raised in nearby Wentzville, MO by his loving maternal Aunt Ouida Carrico and her husband Walter. He was known as ‘Arden Carrico’ until he graduated from Wentzville High School in 1964 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was required to begin using his legal last name, Sipola. Arden was stationed at Westover AFB, Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts.
Arden worked as a truck driver all of his adult life and retired from Boeing in St. Louis after 20 years. He always enjoyed driving across country in a 18-wheeler semi-truck, talking on his CB radio to fellow drivers and enjoying truck stop diner food.
During his retirement years living in California, Arden enjoyed walking his dog and visiting with neighbors, as well as his Wednesday afternoon schedule of lunch and Bingo at the San Clemente Senior Center.
Arden was preceded in death by his second wife, Nancy (Mattern) Sipola in 2019 and is survived by his children, Eugene Sipola of Kersey, CO and Tracy (Sipola) Boxell of San Clemente. Arden was blessed to have four grandsons, one granddaughter, and four great-grandsons.
Arden met many wonderful neighbors when he lived in Shorecliffs and the Everleigh Senior Community in San Clemente and was forever grateful for their friendships.
The family would like to thank Blue Skies Board & Care for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days.
