Alfonso Cuevas Navarro

Alfonso “Al” Cuevas Navarro 12/21/25 – 12/13/17 Al died on December 13, 2017, at the age of 91 (eight days short of his 92nd birthday) in Calimesa, CA. Born to Pedro & Ramona Navarro in Cottonwood, AZ on December 21, 1925. Youngest brother to Peter Navarro, Ernestine Navarro Lopez, Julia Navarro Sage, and Carole Navarro Lee. He married the love of his life, Frances “Corky” Cordova, on January 25, 1947. They celebrated 41 years of marriage, until October 11, 1988. All have preceded him in death, including his only son Al Navarro Jr. and grandson, Jason B. Saunders. Al died in Calimesa, CA on December 13, 2017 surrounded by his family. Most beloved father to four children: Ramona Navarro Saunders who resides in Calimesa, CA; Alfonso E. Navarro Jr., (deceased March 13, 2010) resident of AZ; Alicia M. Pizano who resides in Fullerton, CA; and Cecelia Navarro Reed who resides in Moreno Valley, CA. Beloved Grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Michele Saunders Cazian, Howard C. Dolloff Jr., Natalie Saunders Castro, Jason B. (deceased) & Joshua Saunders, Marshall Navarro, Alison Navarro Newell, Lesley Navarro Young, Thomas Reed, Jennifer Reed, and Daniel Reed. And loved by thirteen great grandchildren: Christian Cazian; Xzavier & Victor Castro; Emily, Sarah, & Espn Saunders; Lucas Saunders; Ashley Navarro; Isla & Clark Young; McKayla & Gabriela Reed; and Abraham Perez. Godfather to Dennis Newton, Linda Ferreiro- Munoz, Robert “Bob” Cordova, and Thomas F. Reed. He was a father-in-law, step-grandfather/great grandfather, an uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Al enlisted in the Navy on November 2, 1943. He served in WWII, as a Radarman, III Class, in the U.S. Coast Guard. He received an honorable discharge on April 22, 1946. He worked for the U.S. Post Office as a Mail Carrier/Supervisor/Station Manager, retiring after 25 years. He was a member of the Elks Club (Huntington Park, CA) and the American Legion (Bell, CA). Al’s ashes will be interred, with Honorable Military honors, with his wife on January 13, 2018, 12:00 noon, at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Rowland Heights, CA. A “Celebration of Life” will immediately follow at the residence of Alicia & Andy Pizano, in Fullerton, CA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Parkinson’s Research.
