Barbara Maybelle Baumgarten

BARBARA BAUMGARTEN

June 12, 1940 - September 1, 2022

Barbara went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 1. She died of a Heart Attack and Brain Trauma in a fall. She is survived by her husband Elmer, 4 sons, 2 daughters in law, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was born in Fremont Indiana on June 12, 1940. She grew up in La Porte, Indiana, attending elementary and high schools. She married Lester Stuckmeyer in 1958 and had two sons, Douglas and Richard. Barbara remarried in 1963 to Fred Nasluchacz, and had two more sons, Carl and Franz. Fred died in 1966 in a truck accident. She remarried in 1967 to Robert Phillips, who died of cancer in 1976. The family moved to California in 1977 where she worked in mobile home repair and for the Riverside Sheriff Department. Barbara met Elmer Baumgarten in February 1981 and they were married in October 1981. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Church with Elmer for 22 years. For a number of years, they both raised 5 grandkids. She retired from Alcott Elementary after 5 years there as an inclusion aide. She volunteered at Gage Middle School and Riverside Life Services. She also attended Grace Bible Church and Church on the Hill on Alessandro Blvd. She enjoyed singing Handel’s “Messiah” with various church choirs. Elmer was at her bedside at Riverside Community Hospital when she passed away. She loved her family, pets, gardening, watching Chicago Cubs baseball, and the Lord.
