Barbara Lenore Peterson

Barbara Lenore Peterson of Corona, California passed away on Friday, October 27,2023 at the age of 90. Barbara was born July 7,1933 to Cash and Elsie Green of Brea, California. Barbara and Sam were married on May 15, 1953 and raised their family in Orange and Anaheim, California. They loved to travel and were fortunate enough to see many different countries. Their kids joked that the “instructions” for the Family Trust would be imbedded in their vacation photos which would force them all to watch the numerous videos one more time! Barbara was an avid horse lover; she and her beautiful horses Sundance and Cider won numerous awards and accolades when she and Sam moved to Big Bear, California. Barbara was also known to be an excellent water skier, who would catch many onlookers by surprise skiing at the age of 82! The annual family vacation at the Delta in Sacramento provided unforgettable memories. She remained friends with her kindergarten class and would meet regularly for lunch up until two weeks before her passing. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Peterson, sister, Margie Morton, and her parents Cash and Elsie Green. Barbara is survived by brother, Dwight Green (Joan), and her five children, Sheryl Bowen (Mark), David Peterson (Adeline), Terri Piraino (Joseph), Sherri Werthmann (Kevin) and Steven Peterson (Wendy). Barbara was blessed with eleven grandchildren and a bus load of great-grandchildren; which is still growing in numbers! Her two cats, Harley and Cooper were by her side when she took her final breath. The family of Barbara would like to thank the Resident Assistants and Staff at Valencia Terrace and Angels Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our mom in her final days. A celebration of life will be planned for the spring of 2024.
