Born June 22, 1941 in Alliance, Ohio
Died July 12, 2021 in Redlands, CA
He is survived by his second wife, Vicky, sons Charles (Chuck) and Micah, and stepchildren, William Robertson, and Jennifer Wodzianski, as well as his sister Chesley MacDonall Miller. Chuck and his wife Debbie have four children, Amanda, her husband and daughter, Ashley, her husband and two children, Colton and Austin. Micah and his wife Jennifer have two daughters, Susanna and Paige.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gail Glass Miller (mother of Chuck and Micah).
Charlie spent his early years in Connecticut where he was active in the YMCA. His family moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where he graduated high school. He attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, and after graduation spent two years teaching in American Samoa and Hawaii. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1967. He met his first wife, Gail, vacationing on the Gulf Coast Beaches. He served tours of duty in with the Air Force in Vietnam and Japan. After returning to the states he served as a missile officer at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri; during which he obtained his MBA from the University of Missouri. He finished his twenty years of service in the missile program at Norton Air Force Base, retiring in 1987. After his retirement from active duty, he continued to work in the aerospace industry for another 20 years.
He really retired in 2007 to stay at home, spend more time with his grandson, Austin, and volunteer as a Citizen on Patrol with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
He and Vicky loved to travel, especially to new destinations via cruise ships. They visited many different countries and by the end of their cruising escapades had managed to see all seven continents.
Charlie was extremely proud of his military service and gratified to know his example lead both of his sons to volunteer as well. Chuck, having served in all branches of the military (except for the Air Force), has retired from the Army. Micah remains in the U.S. Marine Corps, in the reserve officer ranks. Austin is also following his grandfather into the military; he is currently in the Army ROTC program and will be commissioned in the Spring of 2022.
Charlie always made sure those around him had everything they could ever need. He will be sorely missed.
