Donald Ray Burdeaux (75) passed away on October 24, 2017 at his home in Riverside, CA.He had battled both Parkinson’s and Prostate Cancer. Don is survived by wife, Patricia (Evans) Burdeaux; daughter, Donielle Burdeaux; stepson, Ray Stevenson; grandson, Andrew Fritz (spouse Myranda Rawlings); great-grandchildren, Lukas and Ashlyn; sisters, Joyce Chumley, Martha Clark (spouse Lynn), and Donna Mitchell; brother Clifford Burdeaux (spouse Emma); and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by father William Burdeaux; mother Addie Ryals Burdeaux; and brother, Bill Burdeaux. Don was born in Ashland, KY on August 19, 1942 to William and Addie Burdeaux. Shortly after he was born, his family moved to Baltimore, MD, where he was raised and graduated from Patterson Park High School. Don is an alumnus of several colleges and universities, including Peabody Conservatory of Music (1960-63); David Lipscomb University (1963-64), BA Music Performance, Minor History; National University (1990-91), MS Curriculum and Instruction; and California State University San Bernardino (1998-2000), Administrative Credential. Don began his teaching career in 1964 at two districts near Nashville, TN. In 1968, he moved to the Denver area and became the Band Director and Music Instructor at Northglenn High School, until 1984. He moved to Southern California continuing his teaching career in music and marching band; Pioneer High School, Whittier, CA (1986-87), then at Arlington High School, Riverside, CA (1987-1994). His remaining years at Arlington HS were spent teaching in the social studies department and in several leadership positions. He retired in 2012. Don was known for his organization, intellect, and passion for teaching. His sense of humor made friends, colleagues, and students laugh. It was this sense of humor and his strong faith in Jesus Christ, which allowed him to stay positive throughout his health struggles. He was determined to enjoy life, spend time with family and friends, and to get in a last couple fishing trips. His smile and fun-loving spirit will be missed by many. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Trident Society. Memorial services will be held: November 10th @ 11 a.m. at Harvest Christian Fellowship, 6115 Arlington Ave Riverside, CA 92504 and November 17th @ 3 p.m. at Crossroads Church, 10451 Huron St. Northglenn, CO 80234
