Doug was born in 1926 in Los Angeles. He grew up in the beach cities, graduated HS in Redondo Beach, and enlisted in the Army Air Corps at 17, serving in the Philippines. Following his service, he began his 32-year Sales and Marketing career with Western Airlines working in Southern California and Arizona. While working in San Diego, he met the love of his life, Esther Angeles. They married in 1954 and started a family. Following his career, Doug was active in the community, volunteering in Upland Rotary, Ontario Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Ontario Airport, and as a Volunteer Officer for the Upland Police Department. He was also co-founder of the Bola Tie Society of Arizona.
Doug enjoyed family, travel, SCUBA diving, Bola Ties, tennis, and, of course, ice cream. He never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to tell a joke. Doug’s life was “The Only Way to Fly!”
Doug is survived by his wife, Esther, son Matt (Kellie), daughter Laura (Mark), Grandchildren Melissa and Eric, Great-Granddaughters Ava and Abigail, and beloved extended family. He lived a full life and was loved by many.
