Duane A. Lambert, To all who knew him (Pete), was born on August 29th, 1936. To Lillian (Faulkner) Lambert and Robin Lambert in Tomah Wisconsin. He attended a one room schoolhouse that allowed him to bring his dog, for many years. When he entered high school the family had moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin. After graduating he joined the Army Reserves for six years. He began working for General Motors during this time and after many work related trips to California he knew this is where he wanted to live. Years later he moved here and began working at Hugh’s Aircraft in Fullerton as a configuration manager. He retired in 1997 from Raytheon.
They say you can take the man out of Wisconsin but you can’t take Wisconsin out of the man. This is true. Pete was a diehard Green Bay Packer fan for life. He also never missed a NASCAR race on Sundays.
In 1987 Pete met Carol Hendricks, the love of his life at an Easter brunch given by their mutual friends. From that day forward and for the next 38 years they built a life together and made memories to last forever.
For 24 years they had the better of two worlds. They spent summer at their cabin in Lake Arrowhead and winters at their home in Palm Desert. Making lifelong friends in both places.
For the past 5 years Pete faced so many health issues with courage and determination but God finally let him go so he could be pain free once again. Heaven just got a wonderful, kind, and loving man who will be missed every day until we see him again. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Pete is survived by his wife Carol, son Todd, (Chasta), two grandchildren, Justice (Nick), and Colton Lambert. His great grandsons, Lynden, Haxton, Houston and step-son Curtis Chaney. Step Grandson Luke Chaney. His niece Sue (Nick Dawalt), Nephews Steve, Brad, and Jeff Ross. He was proud of all of you. His brother and sister in law, Bob and Pam Jaynes. So many friends have REACHED OUT TO Carol to share stories of how much he meant to them.
Pete was proceeded into death by his stepson, Jeff Chaney and sister in law Robin Tole, his parents and his brothers Newel and Dale Ross.
Thank you to all the caregivers at ST. Mary’s home and care in Palm Desert for their kindness and care. To hospice who were always there when Pete needed them.
Per his request, Pete’s ashes will be scattered in Tomah Wisconsin in the spring.
