Edith (Edie) Hill lived in Rancho Cucamonga, and passed away to be with our Lord on August 11, 2024. She was born February 1, 1937 in Elkins (New London), NH, and was the youngest of three children. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Susan Hill, her sister Elizabeth (Hill) Murphy, and her son Charles (Chuck) Nickerson. She is survived by her brother, Charles (Charlie) Hill (MA), two sons, Robert Nickerson and Maxwell Nickerson (both in AK), a nephew, Donald Murphy Jr. (CA), and nieces Laurie Jardine (CA), Donna Branson (NH), Susan Natalie (MA), and Kathie Burke (MA). Edie was also blessed with 13 grandchildren.
Edie grew up in NH and MA. She married Robert Nickerson Sr., moved to New York, and had three sons. After divorcing, she followed her parents and sister’s family to CA. She co-owned a taxi company in Palm Springs, was a property manager for several apartment complexes, and was a caregiver. She retired in San Diego, but moved to San Bernardino, then Rancho Cucamonga to be closer to family.
Edie was known for her strong will and independence. She was fortunate to have lived independently until her passing.
A viewing was held at Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont, CA. Her final resting place will be on the mountain known as “Sleeping Lady” outside of Anchorage, AK. She will be forever remembered by her family and friends.
At her request, no services are planned. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her honor to any charity of the donor’s choice.
