A light left the Earth on April 14, 2017. An energy was taken from everyone around him. Gaylon Newton, the most devoted husband and fun loving father and grandfather passed away at 68 at his home in Highland, California from congestive heart failure. Gaylon is finally joining his parents Ira Newton and Cora Ernestine (Elliot), and his brother Dayton Newton in the eternal life. He lived on his terms and was happy to leave when the Lord called him.
On November 6, 1948 in Colemon, Texas the world became a better place when Gaylon came into the world. He was the oldest of four children, and graduated from Redlands High School, class of 1966. With the onset of The Vietnam War Gaylon enlisted in the United States Army on April 12, 1968, honorably serving his country until his discharge on January 10, 1971.
Gaylon dedicated himself to his wife Jean Rosevink Newton for 46 years. They were married in San Bernardino, California on June 8, 1974. His spirit is also carried on by his children Kimberlie (Jerry) Eastburn, Timothy Flatt, Gaylean (Jon-Paul) Neville , and Dylan Newton (Kristen Fernlund), his grandchildren Ryan (Natalie) Buchwald, Ashley Buchwald (Efrain Montellano), Elizabeth Flatt, Ethan Neville, Brooke Neville, Joshua Eastburn, and Adrian Newton, his brothers Glenn and David Newton, and extended family and friends from every walk of life. Gaylon was lucky to have a daughter that he considered his own. Maribel Rodarte was a blessing to him.
We want to let him know that he did a great job and wish him a safe journey. We will remember his smile, his warmth, his energy, his love for life, family and friends, but also colleagues, many of whom over time also became friends. He worked very hard all of his life, up until the very end. Gaylon worked a few jobs beginning when he was a child picking oranges with his grandfather. Included are Levitz, SBUSD, Rogers Bindery and Jenco, which he worked for until about a month before he died. He made a difference in the lives of many. We invite you to join us and celebrate his life the way he would have wanted us to celebrate at the American Legion at 28309 Highland Ave Highland, CA 92346.
We will forever adore and remember you – we will stand taller and stronger, knowing you are now watching over us.
