Gloria Jean Marino

Gloria was surrounded by her husband Sal of 58 years, and their three children when she passed. They find comfort knowing that Gloria is free of pain and in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.

Gloria was born in Chicago, IL, on July 7, 1942, as the second of three daughters to Stanley and Mary Drabik whom she has now joined in heaven.

Gloria met her best friend and beloved, devoted husband, Sal, while working at The Farmer’s Market in Chicago, IL, when they were 16. They married on May 2, 1964. Together they have three children, Jeannine Scheffler (John), Marianne White (Brant), and Sal Marino (Andrea). Gloria loved her grandchildren, Elizabeth Kennedy (Curry), Matthew Scheffler (Sydney), Michelle Scheffler, Danny Scheffler, Camden, Henry, and Bennett White. She was so happy to become a great-grandmother for the first time to Brooklyn Kennedy. Gloria is survived by her two sisters, Loretta Falco (Charlie deceased) and Pamela Finn (Don); her brothers-and-sisters-in-law Jeannette Tanny (Joe), Marie McCann (Jim), Joe Marino (Terry); and many nieces, nephews, family and friends whom she loved dearly. Gloria also loved her three grand dogs, Wrigley, Cody, and Blondie.

Throughout the years, Gloria loved watching her grandchildren play sports, especially baseball. She enjoyed golf and, in her later years when she could no longer play, riding on the golf cart with Sal. She also enjoyed bocce ball, card games, and music. Gloria was a great cook and baker and would host many family Sunday dinners.

Gloria was faithful and prayed daily and taught her family to do the same. We know she continues to pray for us in her heavenly home and wants us to “keep smiling.”

Gloria’s family and friends are invited to join us in a mass celebrating Gloria’s life at a date to be determined in Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Misericordia Heart of Mercy, in Chicago, IL, in Gloria’s name.
