It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Carl Ekman, who peacefully passed away on January 9, 2025, at the age of 95 in Murrieta, California. Born in Chicago, Illinois, James lived a long, full life that was marked by love, laughter, and a deep commitment to family, friends, and his country.
James served our nation proudly in the Army, and his dedication to service was a source of pride throughout his life. After his time in the military, he worked with NBC Television for over 37 years, where he was respected by colleagues and loved by many.
James was a man of God, whose faith was an important foundation of his life. He is now joyfully reunited with his beloved wife, Irma, in heaven, where they will continue to share an eternal bond. James was a proud father to Kirsten Turner (and spouse Erik Turner) and Greg Ekman (and spouse Tina Ekman). He was also a devoted uncle to Anders Ekman, and a loving grandfather to his four grandchildren: Noah, Emily, Ashley, and Karly. He is survived by many cherished friends who considered him a bright light in their lives.
James lived life on his own terms, full of joy and humor. He was known for his playful spirit, often cracking jokes, hosting Christmas gatherings at his home, and bringing joy wherever he went. He had a passion for music, enjoying playing the accordion, organ, and piano. James also loved camping, traveling, and, most importantly, spending time with his family and friends.
Above all, James cherished his family deeply and will be lovingly remembered as a kind, generous, and fun-loving man who made a lasting impact on all who knew him. His life was a testament to living fully, embracing the joy of every moment, and finding peace in faith.
James will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Thank you for your prayers!!!
