After retiring as a Tax Law Specialist working in the national office of the Internal Revenue Service, he and his wife Betty retired to the hills outside Front Royal, Virginia. Living in the house they built together, he enjoyed tending to projects around the home, chopping wood for the fireplace, and feeding the deer wandering around the surrounding hills.
They moved to Sun City, California in 2005. Before falling ill, Jim enjoyed visiting with the neighbors and tending the trees, flowers, cactus, and vegetable garden in the back yard.
Jim was the last surviving child of Daniel and Lydia (Ven) Ulvog. He was preceded in death by siblings Gilbert, Carl, Alice, Louise, Lloyd, Olaf, and Clarice. He was also predeceased by two sons, Richard and Douglas.
He is survived by beloved wife Betty (Radigan) Ulvog, children James (Beth) and Dawn (Al), two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
In honor of his service as a navigator in the Air National Guard during the Cold War, he will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery in California.
