Jan Linwood Womer

Jan Linwood Womer was born on December 13th, 1939 to Leslie Arthur Womer and Emma Womer. Brother of Arthur Womer. He married the love of his life, Sharyn Elizabeth Edelblute on September 6th, 1967 and he was ordained to Ministry in the Lutheran Church as a Pastor on January 6th, 1968 in the Swedish Lutheran Church.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Riverside and completed both his Masters and Doctoral degree at Jesus College, Oxford in the United Kingdom.

They moved to Sumatra, Indonesia where he taught local Christians at a University. While in Sumatra there first son, Justin Womer was born.

They then moved back to Costa Mesa where there second son, Colin Womer was born.

Following several years in Costa Mesa the family moved back to Oxford where Jan was called as a Don and later appointed as Principal of Mansfield College.

Jan loved to travel and toured most of the World, including Europe, India, the Galapagos, Denmark and the Arctic and Africa.

He was preceded in death by Sharyn on May 11, 2012.

He is survived by Justin and Colin and his three grandchildren; Logan, Amberlin and Sierra. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he relished and celebrated the time and activities they had.

He died on July 11th, 2023 surrounded by friends and his two sons, quietly in his sleep.
