Kaete Pretzlik passed away peacefully on June 14, 2023. She was born in 1936 in Dusseldorf, Germany. After some college courses, Kaete began to travel and came to the United States to work as an aupair. Shortly after arriving, she met her husband Frank Pretzlik and they married in 1963. Kaete became a U.S. citizen in 1970. Kaete and Frank liked to travel and went to Europe together for vacations and to visit family. They also spent much time in Ensenada, Mexico where they co-owed a small beachfront property. They had many wonderful memories there with good friends.
Kaete worked with Frank in their business and she also worked for Cruise America. She spent her retired years as a homemaker and she loved to cook. She also loved to paint and was artistic, as well as spent time gardening. In her later years, she was involved with the Arthritis Foundation and volunteered at her community country club as well as with the Joysln Center.
Kaete was predeceased by her parents, her 3 brothers, and her husband Frank. She is survived by her sister Martha Steibel, and her nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family would like to thank hospice care and the caregivers at assisted living where Kaete spent the last year.
There are no formal services planned as per Kaete's wish. There is a Celebration of Life page on Facebook for Kaete.
