Born December 11, 1933 in Washington, DC, he was the son of late Milton W. Crawford and the late Lucille A. Crawford of College Park, MD.
Passed away April 18, 2017, following a battle with lung disease. Len is survived by his loving wife Joan Crawford, 3 brothers, Milton (Buddy) Crawford Jr. of Annapolis, MD, Brian Crawford of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Robert Crawford of Gilbert, AZ and sister-in-law Irene (Brian) and Sharon (Robert). He is also survived by four step-children, Natalie Thomas of Georgia, Douglas Whisenand of Florida, Paula Ker of California and Kathy Paulsen of California. Also 6 step-grandchildren, Andrea, Mary, Derek, Spencer, Jessica and Justin. And 3 nephews and 2 nieces, Gary, Steven, Jason, Laura and Stacy.
After graduating from Bladensburg High School in 1952, Len served in the US Navy aboard the Aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain in the Mediterranean from 1953 through 1957. Following his discharge from the Nay, Len returned to work as a union steamfitter with Johnson Controls where he eventually became a construction project manager. He retired from Johnson Controls in 1992 following a 33 year employment. He then was hired by the Architect of the Capitol where he spent 7 years working in the US Capitol before retiring in 1998. Len then build a retirement home in Falling Waters, WV where he spent his time playing his favorite sport, golf. Len was widowed several years later and eventually moved to Palm Desert, CA where he met his lovely wife, Joan.
Len will be laid to rest at the Richland Cemetery in Johnstown, PA.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be expressed in the form of donations to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
