Martina Marie Shurley (née Long) was born in Holyoke Massachusetts, September 29th 1952, the middle child of three brothers: Daniel, Steven, and Jimmy Long, and three sisters: Lynda King, Mary Long, and Heather Grincavitch.
She spent 30 years as an LVN in various locations, ending with home-health based in the High-Desert. Tina was an active volunteer of Yucca Valley's non-profit Tender Loving Christmas for over 10 years, garnering the title of 'Recycling Queen' for her tireless efforts in managing the waste, donations, and fundraising drive involved in the annual dinner.
She had two children, David and Joleana Shurley, and at various times up to five at a time with husband Bob Shurley from previous marriages: Nohelle and Christopher Shurley and Kimberly Bryant.
For the last 10 years she worked at Circle K, using her motivation from caring for her patients to the care of her customers. Tina was only ever personable and accessible - they knew her by name.
Before going to Eisenhower Medical Center, Tina said to her husband 'It's a win-win situation, I will be cured and go home or I won't and I'll go home to Jesus.' So, she'd win either way. She went home to her Lord Jesus, Sunday May 28, 2023 at 3:33am. She won!
Family and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life at The Little Rock Chapel at Desert Christ Park on June 11th 1-2pm (56200 Sunnyslope Drive, Yucca Valley, CA), with a following Potluck style reception at Covington Park beside the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve (11165 Vale Drive, Morongo Valley, CA).
