Marvin is survived by his wife Gladys, Son Robert, Daughter in law Susan, four grandchildren Justin, Kristina, Kurtis and Scott, and a Great Grand Daughter Kiley.
Marvin was born in Hammond Indiana to William and Edna Burow. Marvin Graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s degree in teaching. Marvin served in the United States Army during World War two and the Korean War, where he earned the rank of Captain.
Marvin also had a fantastic working career with Security pacific Bank, moving up the ranks to Vice President Manager. Marvin was very proud of his many accomplishments. Marvin enjoyed his many friends, and relationships he developed over the years. Marvin’s passions were golf, baseball, and football. While Marvin was serving in the Army, Marvin was on the Army’s softball team, where he broke his left ankle sliding into second base, that injury troubled him throughout the rest of his life.
Soon after the war ended, Marvin went to work for Security national Bank. He worked in Long Beach, Los Angeles, Ventura, and then received a promotion to Bank Manager in Thousand Oaks. Marvin was the only banker in town, of only three thousand residents. It didn’t take long before Marvin was involved with the development of Thousand Oaks from churches, to parks, and recreational centers, working alongside with the Jaans Corporation. Everyone knew Marvin and everyone who came in contact with him took an instant liking to him.
Marvin was promoted to the largest branch office for Security National Bank located in Pasadena, on the corner of Colorado Blvd. and Marengo where he was the Vice President Manager. Marvin was very involved with the community as well. Becoming very active in the Rotary club, The Tournament of Roses, and the University club, just to name a few. Marvin retired from Security Pacific Bank in 1982. Marvin and Gladys moved to Del Webb Sun City in Palm Desert, where Marv and Gladys enjoyed playing golf on any of the three golf courses that were there. Marvin also enjoyed the billiards club where they had tournaments and wonderful comradery with all the guys.
Services for Marvin Burow, will be held at the Riverside Memorial Cemetery on Friday March 24th at 1:45 PM. For anyone wanting to send donations please make them to the American heart association in honor of Marvin William Burow.
