On Monday, January 16, 2023, Milton Ronald Dykstra, loving husband, passed away at the age of 87 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Moreno Valley, CA. He was born on February 27, 1935, in Northbridge, MA to Klaus and Mary (Vierstra) Dykstra.
Milt was a retired Electronic Engineer, having worked at Sylvania and Gould Electronics. He retired from CalComp, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, in Fullerton, CA. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. Milt was a Master Mason of 55 years at Billerica, MA and a member of the Scottish Rite in Long Beach, CA for 31 years. He was also a member of the Hemet-San Jacinto Lodge for 16 years. Milt loved to teach, having taught Electronics Technology at the local community college for several years. Milt also had a great love of music. He played the guitar and had a wonderful baritone voice. He sang professionally with the band Tall Country in his younger years. Milt and Betty would often play and sing together and were part of weekly jam sessions. As well as being an avid golfer Milt loved the RV life and traveling the country with Betty at his side. After moving to Hemet, CA he became a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Milt was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joe, his sister Ann Whitford, his first wife, and his daughter Toni Dykstra. He is survived by his devoted wife, Betty (aka Mrs. Milt) of the home; one daughter Teri (Norman) Fernandez of Orange County, CA; 1 stepson, John W. Hoskins of Overland Park, KS; 6 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends and good neighbors.
A memorial service will be held on February 27 at 1:00 pm at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 26089 Girard St., Hemet, CA 92544. In remembrance of Milt Dykstra's life, it is the family’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to the American Diabetes Association in his name.
