Born on December 24, 1946, in Bremerton, Washington, to Theresa Eileen and John Harry Williams, He was the oldest of three children. He had a brother, Jon Scott, and a sister, Joyce Eileen. Randal’s Father was engaged in sales, and his family moved frequently between Arizona and California.
In Arizona, Randal enlisted in the Army and served honorably in Vietnam. Following his discharge from the military, he returned to Arizona and owned an Arborist business. Randal vacationed in Palm Springs and fell in love with the town of Palm Desert. He decided to move to Palm Desert in 1982. Randal loved to work with his hands, and he went to work for a plumbing company. In 1994, he opened Randal’s Plumbing in Palm Desert, and the company continues to thrive today, offering plumbing repair services to residential and commercial customers throughout the east end of the valley. Randal’s distinctive white and red trucks with the logo “Service •Service• Service” can be seen everywhere.
As successful as his plumbing company is, Randal’s legacy goes well beyond his business. He was a man devoted to God and the principles of AA. The many lives he touched are a living testament to his tireless mentoring and support of men in addiction recovery. He was a quiet, soft-spoken man, but he had a kind word for everyone. He was always available to extend a hand to a friend or stranger that needed love and support.
Randal served on the Fellowship Hall Foundation Board. He loved Fellowship Hall like his own house, he was Chairman of the Board when he passed.
He loved his motorcycles and enjoyed many motorcycle road trips with his friends. Randal could often be seen riding around town carrying parts to repair jobs in his sidecar adorned with Randal’s Plumbing logo.
But it is Randal’s influence and participation in the world of alcohol addiction and recovery that was the accurate measure of the man.
There are men in this world that change your life and the way you think about things. Randal was such a man. He will be best remembered for his kindness and deep commitment to his spiritual well-being and love for others. He was a peaceful, generous man that will be sorely missed. But his legacy of love and tolerance will continue to live in the hearts of the many men he touched.
He was a pal, a confident role model, a mentor, a profoundly spiritual man, and a sensitive man. His sudden passing will leave a massive void in many lives. However, his legacy will carry on forever, reminding us that we control our attitudes and that we can choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.
Randal is survived by his brother Jon Scott and his sister, Joyce Eileen. As well as his nephews Jonathan and Geno and his nieces Tawnya, Jessaca, Kristi, and Hannah. Also included are his grand nephews Aiden, Benjamin, and Lukas and his grand nieces Tessa Ann, Alexandra, and Celeste.
