Rufo Pajo, 75, passed away December 9, 2021, after his battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), aka, Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Rufo was born in Vigan, Ilocus Sur, Philippines to Encarnacion & Maximino Pajo. Rufo immigrated to Hawaii, USA from Agoo, Philippines in August 1983, through the help of his late half-brother Ramon Pajo and his sister-in-law Virginia Pajo. He then moved to Los Angeles, CA in January 1984, through the help of his cousin, Art Acosta. Rufo was then able to bring his wife and seven children to the USA over the course of four years (1984 – 1987).
Rufo worked very hard all his adult life to serve the Lord and provide for his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 54 years, a loving father to his 7 children, as well as a generous friend to his local community in Agoo, Philippines and to his friends in need. Rufo enjoyed being a Lolo (grandpa) to his 12 grandchildren, where he drove his grandkids in California to and from school, cooked their favorite dishes and drove them to their after-school activities. Rufo also enjoyed gardening, planted fruit trees, and cultivated orchids in his green house in CA. He enjoyed fishing and taught his sons and grandsons the great pleasure of fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his friends (barkadas) in Agoo at the cockfighting events. Most specially, he loved cooking and taught his children and some of his grandkids the joy of cooking. His family most cherished his famous dishes like kare-kare, pansit, and adobo.
Rufo was preceded in death by his parents, Encarnacion (when Rufo was 11 y.o.) & Maximino Pajo (when Rufo was 21 y.o.). He is survived by his wife, Aida; daughters, Ruth Ann (Bruno), Rufida Mae (Spencer), Riza (Robert), Evonne (Jason) and his sons Voltaire (Pamela), Troy (Suzette), & Jeovani, and his 12 grandchildren.
