Viola Theresa Gower

Viola T. Gower, 94, formerly of 32757 Flagstaff Ave, Tri-Palm Estates, Thousand Palms, California, passed away March 15th, 2018. Viola was born June 15, 1923 in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of Benny Potts and Elizabeth Felekey Potts. She worked as a cashier for 48 years for Albertson’s, Food Giant, Ashton’s and Van DeKamp’s Bakery and at age 70 worked 20 more years for the Home Depot in Palm Desert.

Viola was a talented baker, cook, seamstress, costume designer, artist and performer. She loved people and had friends all over the country and overseas. She retired at age 82 from Senior Olympics where she medaled 89 times in tennis singles, doubles, shot put and discus. She was an avid shuffleboard player and belonged to the Tri Palm Shufflers.

Viola leaves two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Genovese of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Mrs. Nancy McLennan of Carlsbad, California; two sisters, Mrs. Anne Bates of Champion, Ohio and Mrs. Eva Esposito of Niles, Ohio; two grandsons and one great granddaughter. Her family invites you to a “Celebration of Her Life” on June 16th, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Tri Palm Estates Country Club, 32700 Desert Moon Dr., Thousand Palms, California 92276.
