Thinking of you today on the 4 year anniversary of your passing.  We miss you and love you dearly.  I had a dream of you today and it made me feel happy.

I am so sorry about the passing of my dear friend Linda. We met when I joined Scarlet Ladies Red Hats at HP in 2010. We attended many activities through Scarlet Ladies and Linda helped several times to set up the Potluck Evening table for our group and played bingo too. My husband and I also introduced Norm to her and she truly loved him and was happy. She and Norm also played bingo at our Clubhouse for a few years too.  She saved seats for us at the Clubhouse when we played bingo and I made name plates for everyone. Linda loved playing bingo and going out for lunch and her wine group too. I will miss driving to bingo with her and having fun with her  at Scarlet Ladies activities.

Linda liked to volunteer up at the Clubhouse Pub for many years and she participated in water aerobics at the pool.  
 I always looked up to Don and Linda's marriage as a good model to strive for in my own marriage.  They were married for 42 years (June 1966)!  They always made time for fun whether going on lots of cruises with other couple friends or doing Country Line Dancing every week for years.  They were know for having their daily afternoon cocktail together or with friends.  When Don passed in 2008 it was hard for Linda to be alone.  She hated it.  Fortunately, she was surrounded by loyal friends.  Eventually, she found love and companionship with Norm Sinander the last 2 1/2 years of her life.  They were a cute couple! 
 She always looked so nice all the time - her hair, make-up, jewelry, outfit all put together perfectly. Linda found pleasure in the little things in life like good weather, good food, wearing new clothes, a new pair of glasses, getting her hair, nails or toes done, showing people Christmas and Birthday gifts  she had received, and pretty flowers in her garden.  She also found joy in the big things like friends and family and winning at Bingo!  Her positivity and optimism were a pleasure to be around.  I am sure that is one reason why she always had so many friends.  She had Type 1 Diabetes most of her adult life which most of you probably know but she never complained about it or let it slow her down.  The same can be said for when she started developing the dreaded Macular Degeneration which ran in her family.  She never let any of her health issues dictate what she could or couldn't do or get in the way of having fun! We spoke almost everyday after Don passed.  Because of her Diabetes, I called on weekday mornings, Dave weekend mornings, her long time friend Marva afternoons and Debbie each night to check up on her.  It may have started out as an important task to do and check off daily but it became a bright spot to my mornings!

Sorry everyone.  My long 3 part memory only had 2 of the parts actually come through for some reason and the 2 that did come through are in backwards order.  Bummer.  I will resend the middle part of my message tomorrow, too late now.  Love Kristi

Linda and I became friends many years ago. She was a great friend, confident, and fellow bingo player. We both had November birthdays hers the 14th mine the 15th. 
She loved Angels and I usually bought her one every Birthday and Christmas.

Sometimes they were long and sometimes they were only a few minutes but I miss those call so much now!  I loved Linda so very much.  I really lucked out when I got Linda as my mother-in-law!  Thank you for reading all this it was cathartic to get it down on paper.

Everyone knows the old joke and stereotype about mother-in-laws and daughter-in-laws not getting along but that simply wasn't true about Linda and myself.  Because Dave and I started dating in high school, I met her when I was 15!  She quickly became like a second mother.  Linda was consistently kind and loving toward me. Don and Linda's home was  always open to me. I spent a lot of time there and had a lot of home cooked meals there too.  They didn't mind me hanging around their house all the time.  Even back then as a teenager I knew that was rare and special. 
 Spending time there, I got to hear about her years at Castlemont High School (1960 graduate), those working for the phone company and her time as a stay at home mom.  She was still working at Hair-n-Company when I first met her but she eventually moved onto another receptionist job at a place  next door whose name I can't remember.   Reception work was a perfect fit for her bubbly personality.  She was almost always cheerful! 
Then the "Grandbabies" (as she would call them) came  and she was in her element and so happy!  When she and Don retired early and moved to Lake of the Pines she was determined we would all still see each other frequently. This usually happened up at their place where we had our own guest room!  We have fond memories of time on their patio boat and holidays; especially Fourth of July!  She loved to take her grandchildren to the park and the pool every visit!
Linda was very social her whole life; from working on her high school newspaper to bowling for many years on a team every Tuesday night (bowling is where she met Don!) and being a member of the Fire Belles up at Lake of the Pines.    This continued through to Heritage Park where she and Don moved in 2006.  She was in the Scarlet Ladies - a Red Hat Group and played Bingo- sometimes twice a week!  She was in a Bunco group and for a while a Mexican Train group as well.  Linda was a regular at wine tasting every week up at Raley's.  

Kind, fun, loving and devoted... Linda always put a smile on my face. Even though Don and her moved away they remained some of my favorite customers, we shared many memorable good times and many laughs. She just always made me feel good, what a great quality! I share your sadness.

Dear Deb and Dave, 
I am so sorry about the passing of your Mom!  My heart and the heart of my family goes out to you all.  How can I even find the words to share how much you all have touch our lives, a lifetime of wonderful memories held in our hearts from ordinary childhood days in the neighborhood, to holiday celebrations, to camping trips and so many other family/friend adventures.  Your Mom, Dad and all of you - truly a second family!  Maybe not by blood but definitely by love and friendship.  Sending much love to you all!  

We are so sad that Linda is gone.  We were part of her wine tasting group on Thursday nights and she joined us a couple of time on trips to Lodi.  She had us over for dinner a couple of times and I will always remember how good her potato salad was.  She had such a beautiful smile and was kind, compassionate and thoughtful.  I pray you find comfort in your memories.
