Shirley “Shelly” June Kinslow was born on October 12 , 1937 to Amos and Jackie Kinslow in Greeley, Colorado. She was the oldest of six, preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Galen(2yrs) and Roger and her loving husband of 31 yrs, Ronald “Bud” Horn and first husband Darryl “Mac” McCalister.
She is survived by her brothers James (Libby) Miller, Murton (Linda) Kinslow, sister Tamara Poynter and her daughters Crystal Jackson, Anna (Bill) Skewes, stepsons Ronnie and Jeff Horn, grandchildren, Ryan Montelius, Shelly (Tom) Duncan, Janee McCalister, Kaitlyn Skewes and great grandchildren, Riley and
Mya Duncan and Lillian and Alice Montelius as well as several nieces and nephews.
Shelly attended grade school in Northern and Southern California. She attended Placer High School in Auburn (where she was a majorette in the marching band) and graduated from Roseville High School in 1956.
Shelly was an accomplished homemaker, she was a seamstress, quilter, gardener and award winning painter. She loved nature and swimming and loved to climb trees as a child.
Her professional career included early days working for Reeves Drug Store and Rankins Department store in Auburn. Later she became an accomplished Lighting consultant and decorator working in commercial as well as residential construction.
She loved beauty and quality and also worked in fine jewelry for Liberty House and Weinstocks. Her retirement years were full of Traveling with her husband, Bud in their motor home, snow skiing, kayaking and spending time with her family and friends.
Shelly is greatly missed and she will live in our hearts forever, until we meet again.
