"Ginny" attended elementary school and junior high school in Bloomfield, New York, Boston and Auburndale, Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island. She graduated from Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, Ohio.
She earned a BA in political science from West Virginia Wesleyan College. She earned a Masters in Social Work from Syracuse University. She loved studying American History, especially Abraham Lincoln.
She was a teacher’s assistant at a nursery school, a caseworker at Onondaga County Department of Social Services in Syracuse New York, and spent 17 years as a Social Service Supervisor for the Nevada County Department of Public Social Services including work for Child Protective Services and Juvenile Court dependency cases.
She loved poetry, supporting local artists, jazz and classical music, especially Mozart.
She was preceded in death by her mother Grace Griffing, father Arthur Griffing and is survived by her dear cat Sissy.
She wrote, “I wish for my family and friends to look at my dying as a time of personal growth for everyone, including me.”
Her ashes, along with her mother's and father's were scattered at sea in the San Francisco bay near the Golden Gate bridge.
