Bill was born in Billings, Montana on March 28, 1946 to Phyllis and Jack Guckeen. He graduated from Billings Senior High and soon after was drafted into the Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam war.
Upon his arrival home from Vietnam he married Sharon Harper and they had two children, Chandra and Nicole. While working at the Post Office full time, he also went to school and earned his bachelor's degree in Business from Eastern Montana College. In 1978, he was promoted to Postal Inspector. Over the course of his career in the Postal Inspection Service, Bill worked in San Jose, San Francisco, Missoula, and New York City.
In 1999, Bill retired after 30 years in the Inspection Service and Sharon and Bill built a new home in Billings, Montana a few years into retirement. Before settling in Elk Grove, California, there was a brief stop over in Boise, Idaho. Bill had a love for woodworking, traveling, remodeling, visiting with friends, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon, and his two daughters, Chandra Victor (Raymond) and Nicole Beeby (Kyle) and three grandchildren Jake, Kylie, and Grace, along with his brother Rick Guckeen in Billings. He is survived by numerous cousins who he loved very much. He will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved him.
He will be buried at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery for Veterans.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 18, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at District 56 Community Center, 8230 Civic Center Drive, Elk Grove, CA, 95757. If you would like to attend, please contact a family member.
