Adelaido Martin McCoy, Jr, known affectionately to many as Lalo, left us far too soon on June 28, 2025, at the age of 41. Born on July 24, 1983, in Albuquerque NM, Lalo grew up with a strong sense of adventure that would guide him through life. Lalo’s journey took him from the vibrant landscape of New Mexico, traveling all over the globe, to the sunny shores of San Diego where he spent his final days.
Lalo dedicated 20 years to the United States Navy, where he worked on Aircrew units in San Diego and Virginia. During his military career, he performed critical maintenance, managed cargo operations, and ensured the safety and functionality of aircraft systems. Following his retirement, Lalo continued to pursue his passion for helping others by working toward a second career as an ultrasound technician.
Lalo embraced life fully. He loved cheering on the San Diego Padres at PetCo Park every season, teeing off at the best golf courses in the region and he could always tell you about the best places in town to eat and drink. Among his many passions, Lalo had a love for the Philadelphia Eagles football team, and he was fortunate to attend Super Bowl LIX, an experience he treasured as one of his greatest memories.
Lalo was a remarkable individual whose absence leaves an unfillable gap in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Tamara Thomas; his mother Sylvia McCoy, brothers Orlando McCoy, Henry McCoy, Samuel McCoy and sister Gloria Sedillo. He is preceded in death by his father Adelaido Sr., brothers Bernabe, Randy and Andrew, and sister Emily.
Lalo will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California, on August 15, 2025, at 10:00am. A memorial service and gathering to celebrate his life will follow the burial in San Diego.
