Agnes Idella Fisk

We sadly share that our mother and wife, Agnes Idella Tapp Fisk, “Dell”, 87 years old, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023, at home at Las Villas Del Norte Escondido, under hospice care. Dell was born February 15, 1936 in Barachois, Gaspe Quebec Canada, at her grandparents’ home. She had fond memories of life in the country. The family moved to the city, Montreal when she was 12 years old.

As a young woman, working for Air Canada, she came to visit her cousins in San Diego, and was immediately smitten with the wonderful southern California weather and beauty. She returned to Canada, promptly gathered her belongings, and moved to San Diego for the rest of her life. She loved southern California, always remarking to the very end about the wonderful weather.

Dell met a dashing handsome navy pilot, Thomas Fisk, at a party in Coronado. They were married May 28, 1960, bought a new home in Clairemont, where they raised their daughters Mary and Sara. They lived in that home for 58 years. There were many wonderful lifelong friends in the neighborhood. She worked at several electronics firms, but her favorite job was working for Sees Candies. They were lucky to have her onboard for 15 loyal years, serving many of her regular customers.

Dell valued humility, hard work, a clean home, thriftiness, movies, a good joke, a glass of wine, and playing cards. She was an accomplished cook and seamstress. She inspired her children to pursue their education. She taught us independence and resilience. She loved her San Diego Chargers, for many years, even with their move to Los Angeles, watching them on the day she met her maker.

She was a generous and kind person, She was a good friend to many. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Dell leaves behind husband Thomas, daughter Sara, son-in-law David and grandson Andrew Greenwood of Escondido, daughter Mary, son-in-law Christopher, Abigail and Holly Mebane of Boise Idaho.

Ashes will be interred at Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, CA, at a private family ceremony.

The family gives heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the wonderful staff at Las Villas Del Norte and Mission Hospice. Thank you for the compassionate care of our mother and wife.
