Danford E Hand

Dan passed away on November 21st at the age of 89. He was born in Winfield, Kansas but grew up in Oakland, California. He graduated from Piedmont High School and Stanford University. He received his M.B.A. in Finance from the University of California, Berkeley. Dan worked 42 years in the investment business as a research analyst. His last position was Senior Investment Officer of Norther Trust Bank where he helped open their San Diego office in 1990. He met his wife, Nancy Hooper, while attending summer school at UC Berkeley. They were happily married for 63 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Geneva Hand and his oldest son, Danford Hand Jr. He is survived by his wife, Nancy and his youngest son, Scott, daughter-in-laws, Michelle and Susan; grandchildren, Alexander, Kayleigh (Marquiss), Edmond Dale Velasquez, Katrina Velasquez and his great granchild, Erik Hand. His family would like to thank GlenBrook Health Center for the care and compassion they showed Dan in his final days.
