March 2, 1933 ~ February 18, 2020
Edward E. Brenner, “Big Ed,” 86, passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2020. He was born on March 2, 1933 in Santa Paula, CA, the eldest, last surviving sibling of eight children to William Eugene and Alma Frances Freeman Brenner.
Ed served in the Army, was a Korean War Veteran, and was honored to visit the war memorials in Washington DC with his daughter last year through the Honor Flight of San Diego. After his service, Ed met and married Mary Ann Bologna and settled in San Diego to start a family. They had celebrated 64 years of marriage in April 2019.
He began driving a truck for Talone’s Meat Market in Escondido and moved his family to the area to be closer to work. After retiring from Talone’s he drove a truck for Beckett and Superior Ready Mix.
Ed loved to go camping and would go every summer with family and friends until he was no longer able to drive his fifth-wheel. He also loved to play dominoes, play pool, and drink beer.
He is predeceased by his wife, with surviving children Edward Jr. “Little Ed,” wife Teri, daughter Debra Deline and spouse Brian, along with four grandchildren, Rachel, Ben, Jami, and Scott and four great-grandchildren, Skyler, Azrael, James, and Olivia.
Services will be held at Church of Saint Timothy, 2960 Canyon Road
Escondido, CA 92025 on Monday, March 23 at 10:00 with reception immediately following. Interment for both Mr. & Mrs. Brenner will be follow the reception at Holy Cross Cemetery, 4470 Hilltop Dr., San Diego, CA 92102 at 2:00.
