Erlinda Lopez Duran passed away, at the age of 83, on Saturday, September 23, 2023. She was born on December 11, 1939, in Phoenix, Arizona where she grew up on 31st Avenue and Buckeye Road. She is the eldest amongst seven siblings. Her brothers and sisters hold many memories of her care for them. Her talent of caring for others was demonstrated through her devotion to her children. She worked a 30-year career for the Roosevelt School District. She worked most of that time at Sunland Elementary cafeteria and finally retired from Valley View Elementary Cafeteria in 1993. Erlinda worked at Coricks in the shoe department fitting and selling to customers in her single years. She loved to cook for loved ones and had a beautiful singing voice that so many were blessed to have heard.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frank D. Canez and Carmen L. Canez, her sons, Oscar X. Ortega, Jr., and Victor J. Ortega, Sr., and her husband, Arsenio M. Duran. She is survived by her daugh
ter Lydia C. Rodriguez and son-in-law Vicente R. Rodriguez, her grandchildren, Sophia Ortega, Victor Ortega, Jr., Joseph Thornton, Celestial Rodriguez, and Cipriana Rodriguez, and her great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Ortega, Jonathon Rice, and Althea Thornton.
Her family would like to extend thanks to Palomar's Home Heath Hospice team of nurses and aids.
There will be a burial at Saint Frances Cemetery, 2033 North 48th Street, Phoenix, Arizona, 85008 on November 4, 2023, at 11:30 A.M. open to family and friends.
